| STYLECRAFT SPECIAL DK |
I used Stylecraft Parchment and Pale Rose for this tutorial if you were wondering what colours I used ....
Begin with a magic ring ........
ROUND 1
Ch3 (counts as 1st tr)...... then make 5 trebles into the ring then pull the yarn to tighten the ring .....
slip stitch to top of ch 3 at beginning of the round to join. You should have 6 stitches in total.
ROUND 2
Ch3 ... now make a treble into the same stitch that you just made your slip stitch into.
Then, into the next stitch of the round, make two more treble crochets and repeat for every stitch finishing with a ss to top of ch3.
You should now have 12 stitches.
ROUND 3
Ch3 ..... then into same st as ss make another treble, then 2 tr into every stitch and finish with a ss into top of ch 3 to join
You should now have 24 stitches.
ROUND 4
Ch3 ..... then into same stitch as ss make another treble, then 2 treble into every stitch to end .... finishing with a ss to top of ch 3 to join this round. You should now have 48 stitches.
ROUND 5
Ch 3 .......then into next stitch tr, then into next st 2tr, then repeat (tr, tr, 2tr) till the end finishing with 2tr in the last stitch ..... ss to finish.
You should now have 64 stitches.
ROUND 6
Ch3 , then tr into every stitch around .... ss to finish.
You should still have 64 stitches.
At this point you can either stop here if you want a shorter length and continue to ROUND 8 to add the scalloped edging round.
The jar on the right is using only 6 rounds and the left jar is using 7 rounds.
...... or continue to round 7 as follows.......
ROUND 7
Repeat as for round 6. If you want to continue the edging in the same colour continue to Round 8 otherwise fasten off here.
ROUND 8 Scalloped Edge
Change colour here....... add new yarn and then ch1 (does not count as a stitch) then dc into same stitch. Then repeat as follows (5tr into next st, dc into next, ss into next, dc into next) all the way to the last stitch where you should end with a ss.
Fasten off.
You have now completed your cute little jar cover ...... the possibilities are endless for colours and trims ......
Threaded Edging
If you want to add a threaded edging so you can thread ribbon or lace through the cover then follow ROUNDS 1 - 5 ......
then follow onto this round
Threaded Round
Ch3, then * (ch1, sk1, tr) * , repeat from * to * till the last st, ch1 then ss to top of ch3 to complete the round..... it should look like this .....
You can then thread ribbon or lace through the holes created when your cover is complete.....
Then follow for ROUNDS 7 and Scalloped Edging Round to finish!!!!!
It goes without saying that one of my 4 cats has to be involved in this blog post .....Geordie had to be in my photo shoot!!!!!!
They are the sweetest thing ..... I've filled my jars with buttons and trims and they look so pretty on my shelf.
This one with sweets in is for the Teacher!
Enjoy!
Until next time......
Happy Crochet!
