New Crochet Poncho Design

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are well and enjoying these lovely sunny spring days.  I can't believe that we are almost in June! Where have the last few months gone to!  My daughter will be 30 on June 15th ..... how crazy is that ..... it just doesn't seem 5 minutes since she was a little toddler!!! And now she's a mother herself!!!

Any how I've been beavering away creating and designing new crochet patterns and my latest which seems to have taken me ages to complete is here .... well almost .... just got to finish the YouTube Tutorial for my lovely subscribers ..... not a subscriber? .... don't worry you can subscribe here ......and then write up the PDF pattern and list it in my Ravelry and Etsy Shops.

I've used the most amazing yarn for this design ..... CYGNET BOHO SPIRIT YARN ...... if you have never used it or even heard of it then I can highly recommend it ..... this is just my own personal opinion ..... the colours are stunning.  I chose the Karma shade (6621) for the image above .... as if you know me I tend to choose colours and shades with that vintage, days gone by look, I am not a bright or vibrant colour kinda girl .... and after all I am Loopy Mabel Vintage Style!!!!

It's made by Cygnet Yarns, who are based in England, and it is a luxuriously soft variegated roving yarn with 16 amazing colour ways to choose from and it falls between DK and Aran weight.  It is so soft to work with and gives an amazing drape ..... my design above is amazing to wear because it just drapes so well.

I made a YouTube VLOG about it here ...... where I am chatting about this design and you can see that I am wearing it and how it drapes .....

I have designed this poncho so it can be worn two ways .... the traditional poncho style .... as above and as a wrap style ..... see me wearing it below ....

I have been stopped in the street so many times asking where I got it from .... only to receive surprised looks when I say it's my design ..... and not shop bought!!!!!!

Obviously I always wear my prototypes first before I publish the pattern .... to make sure the style, design and  drape work well .... this is a definite winner all round!!!

I chose a contrasting neutral yarn Stylecraft Special DK Parchment (1218) for the border and edging as I didn't want to distract or clash with the Karma shades and I am pleased with how that turned out.  It has now become one of my favourite designs this year and I can't wait to share the PDF pattern and the Tutorial with you creative people.

So with my planning under way .... I thought I would try another shade of this gorgeous yarn to show in the tutorial and loved the Horizon Shade (6933) which was kindly donated to me by Cygnet Yarns .... how lovely was that .... a whole 10 balls too ... so not having used this shade before .... I was totally amazed with the colours that appeared as I worked with this yarn when prepping for the Tutorial .....

Look at those colours ..... I am in love ...... and they match my clogs 😍..... so as I continued to work through the first ball of wool ..... the colours just kept on getting better .....

This has now become one of my most loved colour changing yarns ..... so now as I write this blog post I am anxious to complete this poncho and share with my subscribers over on my YouTube Channel and publish the PDF pattern.

The only thing I have to decide now is what shade of yarn I will use for the border and edging ..... I'm thinking Mocha or Stone ..... not sure yet .... but I will let the poncho decide for me when it comes to adding the finishing touches.

Hope this has inspired you to get your hooks out and join me here!

Until next time ...

Take care and happy crochet!!
